Tommy became a fan of Krypto the first time he saw. He liked the way he walked, flew and saved the kids. He was the superhero. He completely fell in love with him.

Tommy had watched the video along with the little boy, Kitty. They are also close friends. They played football together. Kitty’s mother had allowed youtube videos one hour in the evenings when she comes back from the office. Kitty liked all the pet cartoons and videos.

Kitty was in the second grade in the local school. Kitty’s mother had just transferred from the city to the small town. She had brought the pet dog and the little puppy. Tommy was just six months old.

Tommy was brownish, stood half a feet tall and was the only one left. His three brothers and sisters were handed to friends and neighbours before Kitty moved to this little town.

Tommy was more a friend than a pet to Kitty as he had not yet picked any friends in the street. Tommy’s mother noticed that he behaved more or like Kitty.

When dinner was over, Tommy came to his mother and asked, “Why don’t you keep a mobile?”

“No, my son!” replied his mother. And she continued, “We don’t keep gadgets like how humans do. We live with nature. Of course, we are friends with them. That is a choice. Further we are totally contented with what we have and fully satisfied with our position in the world.”

Tommy shrieked. Evidently he was not satisfied. He wanted a mobile desperately.

Tommy wanted to prove his confidence.

“Also I know how to operate a mobile. I have swiped it number of times. Kitty allows me to touch.”

There was no response. Tommy knew that mother could be stubborn at times.

Tommy dreamt about the mobile, videos and his hero. He slept.

In the next couple of days, he played as usual with Kitty and watched video once. But his mind was elsewhere. The desire to covet a mobile increased and Tommy couldn’t bear it any longer.

He decided to do something.

There were not many options left.

Snatch it from someone or somewhere.

He realized shoplifting would be difficult as he had no place to hide.

Kitty’s mother would take Tommy’s mother for an evening walk daily in the nearby park. Tommy had also gone once but mother didn’t allow after that for fear of attack by other dogs and also she felt Tommy had not yet picked up appropriate social manners.

Tommy hit upon a plan.

He guessed an open park with dozens of walkers is a strategic location for such an operation.

After dinner, Tommy pleaded with his mother.

He crawled and nudged himself near his mother.

“Mother, tomorrow you will go for the walk?” asked Tommy.

“Yes, I will”.

“I will also go with you, please. Promise I will behave well.”

Mother hesitated but finally said ok.

At seven o’clock, Tommy ran with his mother to the park.

As they made rounds, Tommy kept identifying a target. In the third round, he spotted a man relaxing in a bench beside a tree with eyes closed. His mobile was on the bench next to him. A few feet after they crossed, Tommy told his mother that he wanted to pee behind the tree. He also told that he would wait and join them in the next round.

Tommy made a couple of rounds around the bench. There was no walker coming towards the bench. The man’s eyes were still closed.

Tommy stopped near the seat. Quickly, he raised his right front leg and pushed the mobile towards the back of the bench and the mobile dropped on the meadow. It took less than a minute.

Tommy waited for a few seconds. Then he grabbed the mobile, took it behind the tree and dropped it in a low growth bush. Before that, he switched off by pressing at the right side.

Operation was success.

He came to the path. He was right there at the right time to join his mother again.

When they came back home, Tommy was excited. He couldn’t wait till next day morning. He didn’t sleep properly.

Early morning, he rushed to the park. His heart was throbbing.

He went behind the tree. He sneaked inside the bush.

There it was. The sleek little mobile lay there. He picked it with his mouth, almost swallowed it with just a little edge of the top outside.

He ran back home.

He finally possessed. He started the mobile.

It didn’t.

The mobile was dead. Unfortunately there was no charge.
